Last week I had the honor of meeting Heidi Baker, an inspiring, bold missionary and the CEO of Iris Global. If you’ve never heard of her, look her up, she’s quite the lady!
She came to Chiang Mai for a conference and took time out of her busy schedule to come to Agape Home, the orphanage I am currently serving at, to pray over our staff and kids. The first thing she did when she got here was take off her shoes and sit on the floor with the toddlers. She didn’t require a big introduction, she just came down to the level of our kids and made herself approachable. Obviously our kids had no idea who she was and so they just enjoyed the presence of a new friendly face and soaked in her warm energy.
Eventually, she rose and told stories, inviting the kids into demonstrations, and taught songs and dances. She brought smiles and giggles and also the power of the Holy Spirit as she prayed over our kids and staff and taught us how to pray for each other.
I couldn’t help but think that this interaction was probably the closest thing I’ve ever seen to the way Jesus lived and loved during His time on earth. Getting down on the level of those He pursued, needing no introduction or special attention. Telling stories, encouraging, bringing joy and lightening hearts. Dancing, praising, teaching and laying hands, knowing the power of His heavenly Father could touch the lives of those He touched. Everything done in humility.
I was encouraged thinking later how the same Holy Spirit that lives in Heidi Baker, lives in me. The same God that loves her, loves me. Therefore I can lay hands, I can teach, and I can be expectant of God to move in big ways the same way she does. That is pretty awesome if you ask me.
What a gift this day was getting to observe such a powerful woman of God and feel the presence of our Savior beaming forth from her. I know we will never forget it!

What a beautiful image. Thank you ❤️ A Lor
Dear Rissa, always so encouraging to read your blogs, be a little fly on the wall, learn little life lessons from you and then be able to pray for you.
with love, Mary Ann
Blessed are you, Rissa Martin, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, only your Father in heaven, who has great plans to live in you as He does in Holly Baker!! Love you Rissa. Pastor Bruce
